We well talks about the best players of the MLB season, including stars like Miguel Cabrera and rookie Carlos Segura.
The season in the world's premier baseball league, the MLB, began in early April and so far teams have played about a quarter of the games - about 40. You can already draw conclusions about which clubs will qualify for the playoffs. Today, we'll talk about the players who performed best during the April-May stretch of the season. In the top nine, there is a place for big-name stars Miguel Cabrera, Felix Hernandez, Clayton Kershaw and the heretofore unknown Carlos Segura and Matt Harvey.
Miguel Cabrera (3rd base for Detroit Tigers).

— Miguel Cabrera (@MiguelCabrera) March 30, 2018The most dangerous hitter in the entire league. Since 2004, he has only once failed to reach the 30 home run mark in a season. Last year, he sent the ball into the stands 44 times and scored 139 RBIs (which is how many points the team scored after his hits). He had another strong start this year, though he didn't hit many home runs at first, as his pitchers were too afraid of him. But now he has eight runs scored and 41 RBI, the second most in the league. Cabrera also has the second-highest percentage of walks to the bat. His batting average is 37.5 percent. Only James Loney of the Tampa Bay Rays has a higher 38.1 percent. Thanks to Cabrera, Detroit leads their division, 1.5 wins ahead of Cleveland.
Chris Davis (Baltimore Orioles 1st Base).

— Chris Davis (@chris11au) August 20, 2021Davis has always been talked about as someone capable of hitting more than 30 home runs every season. But he didn't begin to live up to the advance until last season, when he moved to Baltimore from Texas, with 33 home runs and 85 RBI. But it's not the limit, as he has 11 home runs and 37 RBI in a month and a half this season alone. If injuries don't get in the way, he'll improve on last year's numbers. Paired with Adam Jones, they are trying to compete in their division with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. The Orioles are two wins behind the former and one win ahead of the latter. What a heated showdown ahead of us in the American League East.

Upton moved from Arizona to Atlanta over the winter. And the move benefited his stats. He's almost at his last year's rate of home runs - 13 against 17. Most likely, Justin will also break his personal record of 31. Of course, he'd like to hit 30% of his at-bats, which is the number he's striving for. But at this point he simply leads the league in home runs.
Bryce Harper (Washington Nationals left fielder)

— Bryce Harper (@bryceharper3) November 26, 2020The 20-year-old Harper burst into the MLB as a fresh breeze last season, managing to establish himself with the powerful Washington Nationals. He hasn't slowed down this year. He already has 10 home runs, 21 RBI and an on-base percentage above 30%. Because of Jason Wear's injury, Harper is expected to maintain his stats, otherwise it will be difficult for the Capitals to keep up with Atlanta.
Carlos Segura (Milwaukee Brewers shortstop)
Segura is a rookie, but he was given the most critical defensive position - shortstop - and he ranks in the top 10, surpassing established defensive masters like Brendan Ryan, Asdrubal Cabrera and Jimmy Rollins. And offensively, Segura shows his pluses - he's the leader in stolen bases (13), fourth in on-base percentage. Milwaukee has acquired a reliable all-rounder who is good on defense, has a lot of hits, can hit a home run and has terrific speed as well - he steals bases all the time.
Felix Hernandez (Seattle Mariners starting pitcher)

#PeekABoo https://t.co/2QLC01hKRH
— Felix Hernandez (@RealKingFelix) July 4, 2020King Felix is showing his best stats in all his years in the MLB this season. In fact, Hernandez has already earned the nickname King. Yes, Seattle is still weak offensively, but Hernandez's great action on the slide in his games is helping the Mariners stay afloat. The Venezuelan is in the top five in strikeouts, the leader in innings pitched among all starting pitchers and fourth in batting average. If he played on any other club, Hernandez would have at least eight wins in nine games, but so far he's only had five victories. However, he is one of the most obvious contenders for the Cy Young Award, which is given to the league's best pitcher.
Hisashi Iwakuma (Seattle Mariners starting pitcher)
Hernandez has recently had a worthy lineup partner as a starting pitcher for the Seattle Mariners. Last season, the Mariners brought in 30-year-old Hisashi Iwakuma from Japan. He was initially tweaked to the clozer position, then trusted to start games. In 16 games in weak Seattle, he won 9 times. This season Iwakuma even rivals Hernandez in terms of scoring. Perhaps no other team in the MLB has two such great starters right now. Another thing is that the other three leave a lot to be desired, and otherwise the Mariners would be among the league's elite. Now, Iwakuma has four wins in eight games this season. He also has the second highest WHIP (average number of hits and runs allowed per inning). Iwakuma's is a fantastic 0.74. The Japanese is in third place in batting average, with only 16.7% of his opponents hitting Iwakuma's pitches, and ninth in batting average.
Clayton Kershaw (Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher)
Confidence makes all the difference whether I’m on the mound or on the road. So I roll with the @HankookTireUSA Dynapro HP2, which offers ultra-high performance year-round. #HankookTire #Sponsored pic.twitter.com/6QiO3Yxmqr

— Clayton Kershaw (@ClaytonKersh22) December 23, 2020If Hernandez is the top contender for the Cy Young Award in the American League, Kershaw is the favorite for the same race in the National League. The Dodgers starter has already had one shutout and four wins in nine games. The win rate is low, but the big questions here are for Los Angeles' batters, as Kershaw has the best batting average in all of MLB at 1.40. He's also third in strikeouts and fourth in WHIP (0.87).
Matt Harvey (New York Mets starting pitcher)

— Matt Harvey (@MattHarvey33) June 15, 2017Harvey's play so far is the biggest revelation of the season. He is in only his second season in the MLB. And so far, in eight games, he hasn't suffered a single loss and has four wins under his belt. He plays for the outright weaklings of the New York Mets, but his progress is attracting interest in the team. Where he comes from, how he beats the league's stars -- everyone is asking questions like that. So far, he's not listed as one of the top favorites in the race for the National League's best pitcher, but only because of his inexperience. Everyone expects him to start dropping. We'll see how Harvey performs over the summer, but right now he leads the league in WHIP (0.73), his opponents' walks per at bat (14.3%), is second in batting average at 1.44, and is also in the top ten in strikeouts and innings pitched.
